KNEZEVIC GUEST HOUSE

In the vicinity of the Plitvice lakes themselves, just 15-minute walk from the lakes, in the Mukinje settlement there stands Knezevic family guest house. In the newly built and nicely turned out house the guest have choice of 10 rooms with a total of 20 beds and the three stars just to confirm quality of accommodation.

This small hotel is placed at interesting spot: just across it a skiing slope together with a sky lift is situated and is visited by a great deal of tourists during the winter. This is great fun for the children as well, as they can go sleighing, make snowmen and enjoy in other winter distractions. In summer, the meadows are filled with a green mat of numerous mountain plants and they are surrounded by the thick Plitvice forests.

The couple, Dragica and Nikola Knezevic have built their house in the Lika style using traditional construction materials: stone and wood. In the cellar of home they have placed restaurant with a kitchen, so that guests can sleep and enjoy many domestic culinary delights in the same building.

The green lawn behind the house also plays host to an orchard and various plants, while a path that leads very moderately upwards ends in an open fireplace used to barbecuing and making specialty "ispod peke" (food baked in special tins in cinders) foods.

In autumn, when forests are clad in their golden-yellow uniforms and when it gets colder, the Mukinja plant fruit ripens, this being the plant after which the whole settlement was named. This is an absolutely idyllic time at the Knezevic guest house.**
